Ion: Part 1

Part I

The year was 2552.  "Captain's Report, March 4th, 2552. Five years, five long years. That's how long it took us to get Ion back.  At first it was going well, but then setback after setback, loss after loss, turned what was going to be a quick and decisive win.  Into five years of turmoil."  The captain paces around the brig of his ship when his assistant walks in.
"No need to fret captain," said Haily.
"Fret?  We..we..were able to go into space in the 20th century.  We achieved faster than light speed in the early 21st," says the Captain.  "We achieved so much, only to have it destroyed by these filthy....whatever their called."
"But captain..."
"Haily, we have lost too much already," says the Captain.  "We have lost 4 planets already due to these things.  Olipsion, Delta 5, Altrez, Onyx, their all gone."  The Captain pounds his fist on the table.
"Relax Captain," says Haily. "We will win this war."
"If only it were that easy."

Down on the surface on Ion the battle raged on.  "Team Charlie, repeat, Team Charlie come in!"
"Read you loud and clear Scorpion Team," call back a marine over the radio.
"We request pick up at point 34 hill 2 Section R," shouts Team Scorpion's leader Rex.
"Negative, LZ is too hot," shouts the pilot.  "Clear out the area before the hard drop. Over."
"Argh! Can't trust no one these days," shouts Rex.  "Team, assemble!"
The rest of Scorpion Team come to Rex's position.
"Okay Team, this war ends now," says Rex.  "On the other side of the bluff is U.N.M.C. arsenal."
"But sir," calls a private. "Those things are in between us and the base."
"Not for long, says Rex. "Now I want Blue team to go along right flack and wait for the signal.  Sniper Team, move to hill 3 and wait for clearance.  Alpha Squad come with me.  Now move out!"
"Sir yes Sir," calls the entire group.  The 3 teams take their positions and wait for their orders.  Rex picks up a rock and heaves it at the hostiles.  It hits one in the head and they all look toward Rex's position.  Blue Team starts firing, then the sniper team follows.  Then Rex's squad joins.  Soon the entire enemy hostile group in neutralized.
"Go, go, go," orders Rex.  They move to the doors and wait.  Two guys come along with some C4 and place them on the door.  "Breach positions!  Now!"  They breach the building to find it clear of life.  Rex leaves the squad and heads towards a troop carrier.  "This is the key to this war.  Behind this ship is everything we need. One A-34 Nuclear Device. capable of destroying everything better than a black hole.  Now I want you guy to take this ship and get off this planet."
"Wait sir, this thing is remote activized," calls a marine.
"I am aware of that, but the remote is missing," says Rex.  The marines now understand the situation. "Now Go!"  The marines board the ship.
"Its been an honor Sir," calls a marine.
"Likewise," says Rex.  "Get the package to the Captain."
"Sir," says the marine.
"Also when you get back," says Rex. "Ask for 117."
"Yes Sir," says the marine.  They take off from the planet.  As they are leaving the atmosphere a blinding light passes by and when it fades. The planets is in cracks and pieces floating into space.
"Rex!," shouts a marine.
"Too late my friend," says another.  "Too late."  They head off back to the ship to continue another day.

A short 'Speech' made out of quotes by JFK.

We, in the long history of the world, think that only a few generations has been what is expected of mankind, and this will be one of those generations, and this is our time, our country, and our responsibility.    We should not be afraid of a crisis for when written in Chinese, the word crisis is composed of two characters.  One represents danger and the other represents opportunity.  In a crisis, be aware of the danger - but recognize the opportunity.  Also, the opportunity to secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.  This enemy is not China, or Russia or even Iraq, but ourselves are the ones of which we should be defending against.  Also forgive you enemies, but remember their names.
Also a nation which has forgotten the quality of courage which in the past has been brought to public life is not as likely to insist upon or regard that quality in its chosen leaders today - and in fact we have forgotten.  I feel that the truth will come soon.  We will be free men soon and all free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of a unified world. And therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words "I am a citizen of this world!”  Now, time and the world do not stand still.  Change is the law of life.  And those who look only into the past or the present are certain to miss the future.  I repeat, are certain to miss the future!

What Hurts the Most analysis.

"What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts is a song about a girl who was lost her boyfriend and she really misses him and wishes he never left. When, "And having so much to say.  And watching you walk away," is said it shows that she had much to tell him, but she was unable too and she was forced to watch him walk away.  "I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart.  That I left unspoken," shows that she has a lot to say and the girl would trade it all away for a chance to say what she needs to.  The singer says,  "And not seeing that loving you.  Is what I was tryin' to do," and these lines say that the girl really loved the boy and she didn't know it.

Lyrics
I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don't bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I'm ok
But that's not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was tryin' to do

It's hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I'm doin' It
It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I'm alone
Still Harder
Getting up, getting dressed, livin' with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Not seeing that loving you
That's what I was trying to do
Ooohhh....

American Soldier Analysis

The song American Soldier by Toby Keith explains a soldier's feelings and responsibilities to his family and his country. He wants to be a good husband and father, and to also meet the needs of everyone else. He explains that he is not a soldier for the money because he is still unable to pay all of his bills, and the glory is not a good reason because it is not always glorious. He is a soldier because he knows that he has to fight for the future of his family and his country.

There are negatives to being a soldier, such as not being able to call in sick, or having to work on holidays or all night long, but they do not come near the benefits. He is aware of the risks that are associated with being a soldier, and he claims that he does not want to die for his country, but if that is what happens then he will "bear that cross with honor'' because he understands it is a cost for the freedom we enjoy in our country. He will fight for freedom and liberty, and if that is jeopardized than he will take a stand because that is what is expected of him as an American soldier.
