What Hurts the Most analysis.

"What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts is a song about a girl who was lost her boyfriend and she really misses him and wishes he never left. When, "And having so much to say.  And watching you walk away," is said it shows that she had much to tell him, but she was unable too and she was forced to watch him walk away.  "I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart.  That I left unspoken," shows that she has a lot to say and the girl would trade it all away for a chance to say what she needs to.  The singer says,  "And not seeing that loving you.  Is what I was tryin' to do," and these lines say that the girl really loved the boy and she didn't know it.

Lyrics
I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don't bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I'm ok
But that's not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was tryin' to do

It's hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I'm doin' It
It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I'm alone
Still Harder
Getting up, getting dressed, livin' with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Not seeing that loving you
That's what I was trying to do
Ooohhh....

American Soldier Analysis

The song American Soldier by Toby Keith explains a soldier's feelings and responsibilities to his family and his country. He wants to be a good husband and father, and to also meet the needs of everyone else. He explains that he is not a soldier for the money because he is still unable to pay all of his bills, and the glory is not a good reason because it is not always glorious. He is a soldier because he knows that he has to fight for the future of his family and his country.

There are negatives to being a soldier, such as not being able to call in sick, or having to work on holidays or all night long, but they do not come near the benefits. He is aware of the risks that are associated with being a soldier, and he claims that he does not want to die for his country, but if that is what happens then he will "bear that cross with honor'' because he understands it is a cost for the freedom we enjoy in our country. He will fight for freedom and liberty, and if that is jeopardized than he will take a stand because that is what is expected of him as an American soldier.
